Được tìm thấy ở Myanmar, Thái Lan, Malaysia, Java, Sumatra, Borneo và Philippines ở các khu rừng ven sông và đồi ở độ cao từ 300 đến 1.000 mét dưới dạng các khóm nhỏ, sống phụ sinh phát triển trong khu vực khí hậu nóng đến ấm, nở vào mùa xuân và mùa hè trên một bên, phát sinh từ các nút đỉnh, nở liên tiếp 2 đến 14 hoa nở với hình tam giác-ovate, màu tím hoa bracts và mang ngọt ngào thơm hoa.

Nhiều nguồn kết hợp loài này như là một từ đồng nghĩa của D lamellatum nhưng chúng là những loài riêng biệt, vì bây giờ tôi đã không thể phân loại ra những khác biệt chính xác nhưng tôi cảm thấy bức ảnh ở đây là chính xác cho loài này.

Found in Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Java, Sumatra, Borneo, and the Philippines in riverine and hill forests at elevations of 300 to 1000 meters as a mini-miniature sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with 2 to 5, clustered, erect to pendent, clavate, narrow and terete basally, gradually becoming laterally flattened, acute apically, internoded stems carrying 2 to 6, alternate from nodes at the narrow edge of the upper part of the stem, narrowly elliptic to oblong-elliptic to ovate, acute, thin-textured, dark green, sometimes stained purple leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on a lateral, appearing subterminal, 1 to 3, pale green streaked red, arising from the apical nodes, .4 to 2" [1 to 5 cm] long, successively 2 to 14 flowered inflorescence with triangular-ovate, acute, purple floral bracts and carrying sweetly musky scented flowers

Many sources combine this species as a synonym of D lamellatum but they are separate species, as of now I have not been able to sort out the exact differences but I feel that the photo here is correct for this species. I think that this species has 3 longitudinal calli and D lamellata has 5 but I have no references to verify that.
